    1 infraction

    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Repeat ViolationUpon arrival to the facility, 2 dogs were observed within the facility - a black dog was observed under the door within the food preparation/dishwashing area. These dogs were removed from the facility upon seeing the inspectors and RCMP. ***Please ensure the commercial food establishment portions of the premise remains free of unapproved animals, only registered service dogs are permitted. Please see https://www.alberta.ca/service-dog-information for more information on approved, qualified service dogs.***A no animals sign was given to the operators at the time of the inspection.
  2. Monitoring Inspection

    3 infractions

    • 08. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • At the time of the inspection, the domestic refrigeration unit in the food preparation/storage area identified as part of the food establishment operation was observed to contain foods for personal use stored with foods for customer use. ***Please ensure that foods for personal use are not stored with foods for customer use.*** For additional information and direction please refer to section 2.9 Storage Areas of the Food Retail and Foodservices Code 2003 (Amended June 2020) - specific information is available under part e) which talks about personal belongings.
    • 11. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • During the inspection, a 2-compartment sink was observed for dishwashing. An additional sink was also observed in the proximity of the 2-compartment sink - this sink has been previously identified by the operators as a hand sink for hand hygiene. As the establishment notes that they use reusable mugs for comsumption by customers, a 2-compartment sink is inadequate. ***To address this concern, there are options available: 1. cease the use of reusable mugs for customers and only provide single use containers, or 2. upgrade the dishwashing area to provide a 3 compartment sink or commercial dishwasher.*** For additional information and direction please refer to section 4.2.8 Manual Dishwashing of the Food Retail and Foodservices Code 2003 (Amended June 2020) - specific information is available under subserction 4.2.8 Manual Dishwashing part b) which talks about customer used dishware.During the inspection, dishwashing procedures were discussed. The operator quoted their method as "wash with soap - sanitize with bleach water - rinse - air dry". This process is inadequate to ensure effective sanitizing as the steps are in the wrong order. This is especially a concern for customer used dishware as there is the possibility for added unknown contamination (e.g. herpese simplex virus) that needs to be adequately sanitized. *** Please ensure the correct process of steps in the correct order are followed. This process is 1. wash with soap, 2. rinse with clean water, 3. sanitize manually by soaking dishes for 2 mins in a 100-200ppm chlorine (bleach), and 4 air dry.*** For additional information and direction please refer to section 4.2 Cleaning and Sanitation of the Food Retail and Foodservices Code 2003 (Amended June 2020) - specific information is available under subsection 4.2.8 Manual Dishwashing part b) which talks about customer used dishware.
