      • The manager advised that no children will wash their hands in the toy cleaning sink anymore; instead, they will be washing their hands in the nearby washroom hand sinks. A signage stating no handwashing should be posted at the toy cleaning sink area.

    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • Toys are only sprayed with a plant based disinfectant once a day. Toys are cleaned and disinfected with bleach in the sink once a month. No bleach was observed in the facility. This is not acceptable. All the toys must be cleaned and disinfected in the sink at least once a week. In addition, a basket or container should be equipped in the program for the storage of mouthed toys temporarily and they must be reprocessed on the same day. A disinfectant such as bleach must be equipped at all times.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • Staff advised that children are washing their hands in the toy cleaning sink just outside of the service room. The maximum hot water temperature in that sink was higher than 49C; so the maximum hot water temperature in that sink must be lowered down to prevent scalding.

    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • No proper first aid kit was equipped in the facility. Ensure that a proper first aid kit be equipped in the facility at all times and supplies must be checked on a regular basis as well.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • Toys are not cleaned and disinfected in the sink. Ensure that toys be cleaned and disinfected in the sink at least once a week and cleaning must be carried out immediately after any incidents such as vomiting incidents. QUAT based disinfectant is used. Manufacturer's instructions must be followed when QUAT is used.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • The fridge used for the storage of children's foods was observed dirty and chemicals for science projects were also stored in the same fridge. Fridge must be cleaned on a regular basis and this fridge can only be used for the storage of children's foods and must not be used for any other purposes.
