    • 19(1)(e) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following: (e) that there is effective protection to prevent the access and sheltering of insects, rodents and other pests.
      • In accordance with Section 2.17 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure exterior openings are protected against the entry of pests.
    • 29(2)(a) A maintenance, cleaning and sanitation program must include procedures to ensure that all of the following are done: (a) the food establishment and equipment are maintained, cleaned and sanitized;
      • Service the bar glass washer to ensure the glassware are sanitized. Manually sanitize dishes until this unit is fixed.
    • 49(1)(a) An operator must ensure that food ingredients and food packaging materials must be stored in a dry storage room or designated area that a) protects the food ingredient or food packaging material from contamination;
      • In accordance with Section 2.9 of the Nova Scotia Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure that the facilities used for the storage of food, food ingredients, equipment and non-food materials such as utensils, linens, single-service and single-use utensils, and packaging must be designed and constructed so that they: i. are cleanable; ii. are located in a clean and dry location; iii. restrict pest access and harbourage; iv. provide an environment which minimizes the deterioration of stored materials; and v. protect food from contamination during storage.
    • 49(1)(b) An operator must ensure that food ingredients and food packaging materials must be stored in a dry storage room or designated area that (b) provides an environment that is dry and in which moisture and humidity are controlled.
      • In accordance with Section 2.9 of the Nova Scotia Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure the facilities used for the storage of food, food ingredients, equipment and non-food materials such as utensils, linens, single-service and single-use utensils, and packaging are designed and constructed so that they: ii. are located in a clean and dry location; iv. provide an environment which minimizes the deterioration of stored materials; Ensure storage units are constructed in a manner that prevents exposing the materials to environmental elements.

    • 19(1)(b) A food establishment must be located, designed, constructed and maintained to ensure all of the following:  (b) that operations are carried out in an area of the food establishment that is sanitized and appropriate to the operation;
      • In accordance with Section 2.3 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must keep all floors, walls and ceilings in food preparation, processing and storage areas in good repair. In accordance with Section 2.4.2 of the NS Food Retail and Food Services Code, you must ensure all floors are kept clean and in good repair.

      • Observed the floor plan under the metal extension to be different from last year and what was originally submitted with the permit application. Observed a new dishwasher to be added inside the container. Submit floor plans that accurately represent the current lay out inside the container and under the metal extensions.

      • Observed no permanent cover to be provided for the open faced table top grill. Provide a cover so the food and surface is protected from contamination.

      • Observed plastic and/or glass lights around the grills. Observed the shape of one light bulb to be altered by the heat of the grills. Heat may cause bulbs to burst. Remove bulbs to prevent the possibly of bursting and pieces getting into the food.
