- Used single-use roll on wax cartridges were observed in the wax warmer machine.The operator discarded the used roll on wax cartridge on PHI's request and was advised not to re-use them.

- - Porous or uncleanable equipment (wooden spatula to scoop out pedicure scrubs and creams) is not being discarded after each use. The operator was asked to discard all the used wooden spatulas after single use. Equipment classified as porous or uncleanable must be discarded after use in one personal service on one client.

- - Used semi-critical equipment (callus remover) was not being adequately cleaned prior to disinfection. A soiled semi-critical equipment was observed along with cleaned equipment.The operator was advised to assess the reusable equipment after cleaning them. The operator kept the callus remover in the reprocessing for cleaning.Ensure equipment is: disassembled, cleaned to remove soil, and rinsed and dried prior to disinfection.

The container in which the semi-critical tools are immersed for disinfection is not big enough to accommodate the callus remover for adequate disinfection. The operator was advised to acquire an appropriate container with a lid.Ensure equipment is fully immersed in solution.- Disinfection records were not available. Ensure records are kept of: test dates, whether the solution passed/failed, when the disinfectant was changed and the worker’s initials who performed the activity.
