    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • (1) The alcohol hand sanitizer had an expiry date of 2022.* Handwashing supplies were available for the washroom sink located at the back of the facility.* Ensure staff are performing hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Hand hygiene must be performed by the personal services worker before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves that are worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing.

      • * The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures at the time of inspection.

      • * A reusable cloth hand towel was hanging from a towel ring next to the washroom sink to be used for drying hands. The operator removed the towel and supplied multiple clean, single-use, cloth hand towels on the shelf next to the washroom hand sink and a laundry hamper next to the sink for the used towels.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • (1) The proper steps were not being followed for cleaning and disinfecting combs and scissors. Tools were not being washed before immersing them in the Barbicide solution.(2) There was no designated proper cleaning area/station available. * Non-critical equipment (i.e. combs, brushes) will be cleaned in the hair sink and disinfected with Barbicide. The operator will set up a shelf/table near the hair sink for cleaning and disinfecting tools.
