      • -Reprocessing of semi-critical tools was occurring in a pedicure tub.Semi-critical tools are instruments that touch cracked skin, chapped skin, or mucous membranes but do not typically penetrate them. These tools need a designated area for reprocessing (cleaning and disinfection). A designated sink with adequate counter space to maintain one-way flow of equipment (contaminated-to-clean) is required.The operator designated the sink in the staff room to be used as a reprocessing sink. Handwashing can occur in the same sink if a written procedure is developed.Written procedure for dual-purpose sink was reviewed with the operator.
