- Water was observed to be on tools that were being re-processed in CS20. The re-processing procedures were reviewed with the operator. Please ensure that tools are reprocessed as per the manufacturer's instructions for CS 20 or other high-level disinfectants. Semi-critical tools should be washed with soap and water, dried, immersed in high-level disinfectant and rinsed.

- A wax well was observed to be uncovered at the time of inspection. Pedicure scrub gels were observed to have popsicle sticks stored in their containers. Signs of reuse of the popsicle sticks were noted. The items were discussed with the operator. The wax well was covered and the popsicle sticks were removed.Please ensure that all products are handled and stored in a manner that ensures that the products are kept safe and sanitary.

- Bottles of expired CS 20, CS 20 test strips, Preempt RTU, and Flexi Clean were observed at the time of inspection. The disinfectant log was also observed to be missing at the time of inspection. The operator had mentioned that a staff member had removed the log earlier in the week.Please ensure that valid disinfectants are available to adequately disinfect reusable equipment. Please also ensure that disinfectants are verified regularly with valid testing equipment and disinfectant logs to ensure proper and effective disinfection.

- A container of wax was observed to be uncovered with popsicle sticks left inside. Signs of contamination were observed in the same container of wax along with a couple of other wax rollers. The operator was informed of the concerns and was asked to discard the wax. Please ensure that wax is stored and used in a manner allows for its safe and sanitary use.

- A sink in the staff room and the men's washroom was observed to have a reusable towel at the time of inspection. The operator confirmed that the towels are indeed used for wiping hands. Paper towels were acquired and placed at both sinks after a discussion with the operator. Please ensure that proper supplies are being used to dry hands when handwashing. Reusable towels can become dirty and unsanitary, leading to improperly cleaned hands and cross-contamination.

- Tools for manicure were observed to be stored with money. Manicure tools at other stations were also observed to be stored in a manner that did not prevent their contamination. Please ensure that any equipment used for services are stored in a clean and sanitary manner.

- Preempt CS20 was observed to be expired. After a discussion with the operator, a valid bottle of CS20 was acquired from a nearby salon. Proper procedures for reprocessing was also reviewed with the operator.Please ensure that enough CS 20 disinfectant is available to disinfect manicure and pedicure tools. Please also ensure that proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting tools are followed. Tools should be cleaned and disinfected as described on the disinfectant bottle label.

- At the time of the inspection on April 17, 2024, the high-level disinfectant log was observed to be incomplete. Please ensure that a high-level disinfectant log is filled with the appropriate information on the disinfectant bottle.
