- Written procedures were provided for the following1. Client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or puncture.2. Handwashing and equipment reprocessing sink decontamination.Please ensure that these written procedures are kept readily available for review and are followed step-by-step at all times to maintain compliance and promote safe infection prevention and control practices.
- 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
- During the inspection, it was observed that1. An expired bottle of Lysol Multi-Surface Cleaner was being used to clean surfaces.2. An expired bottle of hand sanitizer was being used. 3. Manufacturer's instructions were not being followed when preparing the Barbicide disinfectant solution. The operator told that undiluted barbicide was poured in the container for use. The expired Lysol product and hand sanitizer was discarded during the inspection.Ensure that 1. All cleaning and disinfecting products are used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Only products that are within their expiry date are to be used. 2. Prepare and use the Barbicide solution according to the directions provided on the product label, including the required dilution ratio and contact time.

- Single-use hand towels were not available at the handwashing sink at the time of inspection.Ensure that the handwashing sink is equipped with an adequate supply of single-use hand towels at all times to facilitate proper hand hygiene practices.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- During the inspection, it was observed that1. Hairbrushes were being stored without being properly cleaned and disinfected. Several brushes contained visible hair debris, indicating that they had not been adequately cleaned after use.2. Hair coloring brushes were not being disinfected after use.Ensure that all hairbrushes and hair coloring brushes are thoroughly cleaned to remove hair, product residue and disinfected after each use. Brushes should only be stored once the cleaning and disinfection process has been completed.
- 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
- During the inspection, it was observed that the chair at the hair washing station was in poor repair. The chair had a visible cut on the front edge of the seat and the footrest was broken and covered with duct tape. Damaged surfaces cannot be effectively cleaned and disinfected, which may compromise proper cleaning and sanitation practices.Ensure that all equipment and furnishings are maintained in a good state of repair. All surfaces must be smooth, non-porous, easily cleanable, and capable of being effectively cleaned and disinfected. Repair or replace the damaged chair as necessary to ensure compliance with personal services regulations and standards.
