      • Flex Organic branded isopropyl alcohol was found to not have a DIN or NPN number on the label. Please ensure that antiseptic products being used in the facility have a DIN or NPN assigned to the product.

    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Written procedures were not available for the preparation of skin and using a dual-purpose sink. The AHS written procedures template was printed by the operator during the inspection.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • For micro-needling services, an antiseptic is not being applied after skin cleansing. Failure to apply an antiseptic during invasive procedures can lead to infections, since pathogens and opportunistic bacteria can be pushed into sterile tissues. Corrective action: Antiseptics must be applied prior to services that involve puncturing the skin. Please ensure the antiseptic product has a DIN or NPN issued by Health Canada, and that you are using the product according to the manufacturer's instructions for use.
    • 21. Is equipment that is intended to be sterile maintained sterile at the point of use?
      • A box of pre-purchased sterilized needles used for micro-needling were expired. This box was set aside during the inspection and the operator will return it to the manufacturer.

      • Copy of AHS written procedures template was provided to operator. Please fill this out.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • PreEmpt CS20 is used for disinfection of semi-critical equipment. Test strips are available. High level disinfectant log is not being maintained - copy of AHS template will be provided to operator. PreEmpt RTU and wipes are also available for surface disinfection.
