- 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
- Observation: Inadequate facilities provided for hand washing, no hand washing unit in the deli area, there is two compartmented sink used for manual dish washing. Employees revealed that they wash their hands in the washroom, at the back of the store which is an inconvenient distance from the food prep/deli area. (Public Health Significance) Hand washing is an important practice to ensure food are protected from cross contamination from other previously handled foods or contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Ensure the hand wash station is available and accessible at all times, used only as a hand wash station whenever food is being prepared. Soap and paper towel in dispensers and hot and cold running water must be provided to facilitate proper hand washing.
- 501 - Repeat Operator does not have FOODSAFE Level 1 or Equivalent [s. 10(1)]
- Observation: A person in charge who has Level 1 FOODSAFE training must be on at all times the establishment is in operation.
- Corrective Action: Ensure staffing schedules provide for FoodSafe trained personnel to be present at all times.

- Observation: The facility had no valid permit posted in a location where the public can see.
- Corrective Action: Post the valid permit with the correct decal in a conspicuous location.
- 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
- Observation: Baked goods were left uncovered, next to the manual dishwashing area and open to contamination. (Public Health significance) - Contamination of food from dirty splashes of water from dish washing can cause serious illness.
- Corrective Action: Cover all foods or otherwise protect all foods from contaminants.
