Inspection summary
Asian Avenue Restaurant has been inspected 5 times by Interior Health Authority since November 23, 2015. The most recent inspection, on August 13, 2025, found no infractions.
1 of 5 inspections on record found no infractions at all. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Food temperature control.
Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 14, 2019. For example:
7 Are foods protected from contamination?
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded 2 times on November 23, 2015. For example:
5 - Has the operator taken steps to ensure employees are using adequate hygiene measures to prevent contamination of food?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on November 23, 2015. For example:
4 - Are proper refrigeration, freezing and thawing procedures followed?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on November 23, 2015. For example:
8 - Are equipment, food contact surfaces and utensils washed, sanitized and stored in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 2 times on June 14, 2019. For example:
3 Are written food handling procedures (Food Safety Plan) current and available on site?

Delicious!!! I ordered the hot ans sour soup and the Egg foo yung. It was a massive portion and it was all so good. It reminds me of a place I used to go to when I lived in NYC. Plenty of veggie options, but double check the ingredients of the soups if you have dietary restrictions. We will be eating here often !!!

I visit Vernon a couple of times a year. I've been to this place twice and had a pleasant experience each time. The food is fresh and delicious. Our server Rose is the best! She provided accurate and friendly service which made dining really enjoyable. Sebastian was also great and attentative. Will definitely visit again

Was going to have breakfast today at Denny's, huge Thanksgiving lineup so we tried Asian Avenue next door. WOW some of the best Chinese cuisine I've ever had (especially from someone who seeks out the best asian food on the Coast). EXCELLENT food, friendly personal service, super clean restaurant. Family owned & owner chef is simply amazing! Salt & pepper prawns were HUGE & the best I've ever had, sizzling seafood platter was fresh & absolutely perfect, spring rolls, chicken fried rice & s&s pork were all 10/10. A real gem in Vernon! Can't wait to heat up my leftovers! Definitely a go-to next time we're in Vernon! 😎👍

We recently celebrated my dad’s 80th birthday at Asian Avenue, and it truly could not have been more perfect. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests are still talking about how amazing everything tasted. What really made the evening so special, though, was the incredible staff. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about making the celebration memorable. A very special thank you to Michelle Chen, who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Her kindness and attention to detail made such a difference, and we are so grateful for her. Thank you to the entire staff of Asian Avenue for helping us create such a meaningful and joyful celebration for our dad. It’s a night our family and friends will always remember.

Very good Chinese restaurant! My husband and me visited Vernon from Ottawa, we’ve totally fallen love with this town! It offers everything! We enjoyed our food here. Restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated! As a Chinese, this is the only Chinese restaurant that I’m willing to eat!

Hands down the best Chinese food I’ve had and great portions! My server, Sebastian was very friendly and made great conversation. The Kung Foo Panda movie was also playing so it just added to the fantastic atmosphere.

I took out dinner. I went to the store to place my order and was told it would take 30 minutes to be ready, but it was actually ready in 20 minutes and the staff was very nice. I was surprised that there was only one spring roll for $4. (Their menu didn't say how many rolls they had, but I thought $4 for a spring roll, which wasn't particularly large, was overpriced.) Fried rice was very tasty. The noodles and ginger beef were little salty.
