Inspection summary

Denny's Restaurant Vernon has been inspected 8 times by Interior Health Authority since June 4, 2013. The most recent inspection, on June 11, 2026, found no infractions.

4 of 8 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Protecting food from contamination and Food temperature control.

The last 4 inspections in a row found no infractions. Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on September 27, 2021. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded once on November 17, 2022. For example: 5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on January 11, 2016. For example: 2 - Are proper hot holding procedures followed?

What an amazing experience! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and our server—whose name I unfortunately forgot—was absolutely fantastic. When our child accidentally spilled a glass of cold water, she was there almost instantly to help, which we really appreciated. It’s little moments like that that make a big difference. And the coffee? Honestly, one of the best I’ve had in a long time. A huge thank you to the entire team for the wonderful experience. Keep up the great work—we’ll definitely be back!

A Monday morning: Arrived just before 8am and it was fairly busy. Quiet hum of people. Seating for one put me near the kitchen. Service was very friendly and prompt. From what I overheard there was a schedule mishap that made them short-staffed until 9am. It wasn't outwardly noticeable to customers though. My breakfast was made perfectly! I had country fried steak with soft basted eggs, shredded hashbrowns, and rye toast. Coffee was nice and topped up shortly after breakfast was served, and I felt staff were attentive throughout my visit. Condiment station was clean. Very much enjoyed treating myself to breakfast here (:

First time here at this location and it was not very busy on a Sunday around noon. We had the 55 plus breakfast which is a great deal and it was very tasty. I had the egg white omelette with no tomatoes and it was super and I loved the crispy toasted gluten-free English muffin. My husband loved his omelette and hash browns as well.. if you go on Thursdays between 2:00 and 10:00 you get 15% off 55 plus menu

It was pretty busy and our service was excellent. Our waitress Kianna was juggling a lot of tables but maintained a professional and friendly attitude. She didn’t show in her actions that it was a stressful rush with lots of people. She handled herself extremely well and was able to shine through with a very friendly and helpful disposition. I was extremely impressed and I left the a substantial tip for her. This one is a keeper and I would recommend she receive a raise. Don’t lose this one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My husband and I come to Denny’s in Vernon for breakfast quite often, and there’s a reason we keep coming back. The staff here are simply wonderful—always friendly, welcoming and genuinely happy to see you. On our most recent visit, our hostess (I forgot her unique and beautiful name) was especially cheerful and an absolute pleasure to chat with. What really stood out that morning was seeing several people who had been evacuated because of the forest fires. They were treated with such kindness, warmth, smiles and even some much-needed laughter. It created such a lovely atmosphere during what must have been an incredibly stressful time for them. And of course, the food is always good. You know what you’re getting with Denny’s, and the quality is consistently there. It may not be the Ritz—but give me great food, friendly faces, kindness and a place that makes people feel welcome any day. ❤️ Great staff. Good food. Even better people.
