Big H's Halibut & Chips

If you are driving through Clinton and you feel like having a bite, this is THE place! The food is delicious (I personally went for the Halibut & Chips Poutine with the Herbal Magical Tea) and the ladies were the absolute nicest! We’ve stopped at a lot of places during our two weeks road trip, and I can say that this is one of my favourites.

If you’re a fan of fish and chips, you need to eat here! Stopped here on our way to the island because and very glad we did. Ordered the 1-piece halibut and chips which was fresh, delicious and plenty for two of us.

We stopped thru beginning of Sept 2025. What a Fabulous find! RV camping up on hill with nice view of town, then the absolute BEST Halibut and chips ever ‘delivered to our RV! Charming owners, great conversation. Nice to see a place run with such passion for pleasing their guests. Thank you we’ll be back

The restaurant owner, Harold, brought me a cup of coffee while we were chatting on the porch and his wife brought out fresh baked cookies, still warm. Harold cooked the best halibut 🐟 and chips I've had. Fluffy, light, and crispy! He's a retired Fishman, which explains it for sure.

4.5 / 5 Well, this was a lovely surprise for being so far inland. I highly recommend you try this out, as far as texture goes, it's some of the best I've had. The batter is crisp and isn't overcoated or soggy, the fish was cooked really well too. The only thing Is that we wished the batter had some seasoning to it that complimented the fishes flavour profile, but if your a pureist and just want the batter/ fish. You probably won't find better. We will be back..

If you're driving by this location do not hesitate to stop. The batter we had on our fish was light and the fries were cooked to a point that they did not go soggy. The tartar also had a hint of dill which was a nice surprise. You can hear the timer inside so you know the food is being cooked the same way each time.

First. These reviews are not overrated. The fish of any kind is just that great! The price is for big pieces! You are full of great food. You will see that everyone in the area drives to this place. They wait because it is worthy!! Try the “Oatmeal Ice cream Sandwich”, two hugh cookies and wonderful creamy filling. So good!!

Can't beat a delicious meal of halibut & chips, plus a homemade ice-cream sandwich for dessert, whether camping or just stopping by.

We’ll, what a gem! This where I has the best fish and chips in a very long time. Beats the coastal fish and chips joints by a long shot. Hope to come back here again soon, park our van and enjoy a meal.
