      • 1. Used toe separators, buffers and single use nail files were stored in the drawers of the manicure workstation.All single used items must be discarded after each use.

      • 1. Clean semi-critical manicure and pedicure tools were stored on a dirty tray with visible debris observed.Clean and disinfect the tools and storage tray. Ensure to follow proper disinfection procedures for semi-critical instruments.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1.The high-level disinfectant, preempt CS20 expired in May 2026. Discard the expired disinfectant and obtain a high-level disinfectant with a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or Medical Device License (MDL), labelled with the words: sporicidal or high-level disinfectant and TB, Tuberculocidal or Mycobacterium. 2. Semi-critical manicure and pedicure tools including, but not limited to, cuticle pushers, metal foot file, nail nippers, and clippers were being stored in alcohol after disinfection. The container containing alcohol used for storage was dirty indicating it was being reused. Cleaned and disinfected manicure and pedicure tools must be dried and stored in a clean, dry, covered container to prevent contamination. Tools must not be stored in alcohol.3. Hydrogen peroxide test strip used to verify the concentration of the high-level disinfectant was not available. Records were not being maintainedObtain hydrogen peroxide test strips. Verify and record the disinfectant concentration prior to reuse.4. The container identified for disinfecting the lash extension tools did not allow for full submersion of the tool.Obtain a properly sized, cleanable container that allows tools being disinfected to be fully submerged during high-level disinfection.6. The pedicure foot bath was being disinfected with an unidentified mixtureUse an approved intermediate-level disinfectant for the pedicure foot bath.

      • Preempt CS-20 was expired.- Staff purchased a new one with an expiry date of April 30, 2025. It is crucial to check the expiration date of the high-level disinfectant to ensure semi-critical equipment's are disinfected properly and safely. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.
