      • Children had access to sliding windows located in the toddler room 2, and preschool room 2. The windows were easily unlockable, and children were observed playing with the sliding panes, creating a potential risk of accidental injury.The operator informed the inspectors that the facility has plans to change out the windows. In the meantime, please block off access to the windows to prevent potential accidents.

      • Multiple sensory bottles were observed to be unsealed and could be easily opened by children, creating a potential risk of exposure to the contents.The operator promptly removed the bottles from the area.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • The soiled diaper bin was stored directly in front of the handwash sink in the diapering station located in the infant 1a room.Please relocate the diaper bin to prevent contact and cross-contamination with the children as well as direct access to the handwash sink.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Used cleaning cloths were stored on the faucet of the handwash sink located in the preschool 2 room.The operator promptly removed the used cleaning cloth. Please ensure that handwashing sink are not blocked and accessible to staff at all times.

      • Distinguishable clean and dirty bins were not available for laundry or reusable cleaning cloths.Please obtain distinguishable clean and dirty containers for laundry and reusable cleaning cloths.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • The mouthed toy bins were missing throughout the facility.Please ensure the infant and toddler rooms are equipped with a mouthed toy bin at all times.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • The washroom faucet (left) located in the preschool 2 room was loose.Please repair the faucet to ensure it is secure.
    • 27. Are proper measures being taken to ensure that vermin do not enter or exist in the facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Mouse droppings were found in the washroom cabinet under the handwash sink located in the preschool 2 room and the storage space underneath the basement stairs.Pest control reports were provided and stated activity in the utility room. Please follow the recommendations provided by the pest control technician.Please ensure that the mouse droppings are carefully cleaned by spraying them with a 1:9 chlorine solution and allowing it to sit for five minutes. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and a mask, to minimize exposure to potential contaminants.Locate any holes and gaps and fill them with steel wool, then seal them to prevent the entry of unwanted pests. Apply appropriate treatment to address the pest issue, then monitor and adjust as needed.

      • Hot water temperature was measured between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius at most washrooms and hand washing stations.-Please increase and maintain hot water temperature between 38-43 degrees Celsius.

      • Dirt was observed under the diapering mat in toddler 1 classroom.-Please clean and sanitize under the diapering mat after every diapering process.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • First aid kit in toddler 1 classroom was missing tweezer.Please provide tweezer in the indicated first aid kit.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Cane rattan toy baskets which could be difficult to properly clean and sanitize, were observed in the out of school room.-Please replace such toy containers with smooth, non-absorbent and easy-to-clean containers.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Hot water temperature was measured between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius at most washrooms and hand washing stations.-Please increase and maintain hot water temperature between 38-43 degrees Celsius.2. Worn sealant was observed around the handwashing sink in toddler 1.-Please apply new silicon sealant around the indicated sink to prevent water infiltration.3. Worn sealant observed around the toilets in classrooms 3 and 4.-Please apply new silicon sealant around the indicated sink to prevent water infiltration.

    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) A notable amount of fruit flies was located at a celery plant located in the 3-4 year old room.This plant was tied up, along with the flies, and placed into the garbage.2) The facility was letting toddlers handle and play with pinecones located from outdoors. While this is a supervised activity, children of that age are likely to place their unwashed hands in their mouth, and any broken pieces could be ingested.Operators removed these pinecones. Do not let this be an activity for children unless their older than 3 years old.
