      • In several of the childcare rooms, the sleeping mats and blankets were stored in a manner that allowed for cross contamination (blankets were not separated, hanging over the edge). OUTSTANDING..Discussed alternative methods to provide separation between storage and sleeping mats. Ensure that all blankets and sleeping items are stored individually and that items are not stored on top of cots/mats that are being used by children without cleaning and disinfection first.

      • One adult washroom (main floor) was not operational as it was under renovations due to water damage. Provide the scope of work of water remediation and work completed.

      • Preschool 5 washroom:No paper towel available at one dispenser.Soap not available at 2 sinks (available at other sinks)Ensure all supplies are readily available at handwashing sinks.

Supplies should be checked during opening checklist to ensure adequate supply available.

      • Preschool 1 and 2 shared washroom:Garbage bag was not available in garbage container. Ensure that all waste receptacles have appropriate liner and cleaned regularly.

      • Sand and debris was noted under the diapering mats in the following rooms:Infant rooms 2, 3,4 Toddler 2,3,4Ensure that the diapering station including underneath is cleaned and disinfected fully.

      • Infant 5: A basket was noted on the counter with an apple cutter, knife, rice cake, fruit (including rotting orange). Toddler 2: Apples and oranges noted with apple cutter and knife in area. All food preparation should be done in the kitchen. Food storage is required to be in an approved area.

      • April 30:Some rooms were napping - Preschool N was observed to be 12C. Please ensure that the thermometers are checked daily (recommend 2X/Day). Fridge temperature was too high in Toddler J room (12-13C) and Preschool N room (measure as 8C, and 10C on the fridge thermometer). Ensure that fridges' temperatures are 4C or lower. Updated on June 25, 2024: The fridges temperature was measured to be 10.1C (8C on the records) in the Preschool N room and 9.6C in Kindergarten O room, which was too high. Repair, replace or remove the affected fridges. Ensure that the temperature is 4C or lower.

      • A knife was kept within children's reach in Kindergarten O room. It was removed during the inspection. Ensure that knives are kept away from children's reach and food preparation is taken place when children are not present.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • One toilet was not in operation in Kindergarten O/Kindergarten P washroom. Please repair or replace.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Some cots were not labelled in Toddler J room. They were labelled during the inspection.
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • No garbage bins were provided in the washrooms. Please provide appropriate garbage bins.
    • 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
      • Hand sanitizers observed in Infant B room and OSC Q room expired in August 2023 and March 2022, respectively. They were removed during the inspection.
