Inspection summary

Brodo Kitchen and Catering has been inspected 20 times by Interior Health Authority since January 9, 2013. The most recent inspection, on February 19, 2026, found no infractions.

11 of 20 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Protecting food from contamination and Food temperature control.

The last 6 inspections in a row found no infractions. The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on March 30, 2022. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on May 6, 2021. For example: 7 Are foods protected from contamination?

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 11, 2019. For example: 2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 4, 2013. For example: 2 - Are there handwashing stations available?

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on September 30, 2013. For example: 5 - Is the premises free from pests, harbourage areas and protected against pest entry?

From entering to getting our food this place was top notch. I had the pulled pork cubano with a side of their heirloom tomato parmesan soup. It came hot and every bite was delicious. The staff was super friendly and timely. You can tell the staff work well together. One of the best spots in the PEN for a hot lunch!

Stopped for lunch (11:30am) before the busy period started today. I was looking forward to trying the Pulled Pork ‘cubano’ sandwich and was not disappointed. Fresh bread, hot, and delivered to my table quickly. Decent music in the background but not overwhelming. Only open from 11am-5pm and will be a regular lunch spot when in Penticton.

Brodo catered a 60th birthday dinner for us. We had one vegan guest and one celiac guest. They accommodated both and the food was beyond 5 star. Portions were huge.in fact we had enough for lunch the following day. Flavours were unique and delicious. I cannot say enough positive things about this team. Service. Flexibility. Flavours. Everything was amazing. Thank you team brodo!

This is a must stop for lunch. Great options for a cozy lunch. Soups, sandwiches and so much more! Everything looked amazing. I went with the soup flight to try 3 soups and the grilled cheese sandwich. It did not disappoint. So many great flavours. Also the grilled cheese was cooked to perfection. The staff are super friendly and helped with recommendations. They also have gluten free bread and options. Can’t go wrong with any of the menu items. Can’t wait to go back and try more soups and sandwiches. Highly recommend.
