What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on October 17, 2019. For example: 2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on October 17, 2019. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded once on October 17, 2019. For example: 6 Are the premises designed and equipped to ensure safe food handling?

ASK Wellness Society kicked in my door with police, gave me no lawful eviction order, no bailiff, no due process — just dragged me out and left me on the sidewalk with a sleeping bag and six terrified birds in a cage. I lived there for 2.5 years after being told it was supportive housing. Then, without warning, they “decided” to call it transitional housing mid-tenancy and imposed a made-up time limit that was never in my agreements. That’s how they justified removing me on four days’ notice like a criminal, even though I committed no crime. Since then, they’ve withheld my property for over 25 days, picked through my belongings, stolen and destroyed tools, handmade work, electronics, and valuables, and dumped the rest under a tarp like trash. This isn’t housing. It’s fraud, ideological persecution, punitive starvation, extreme surveillance, discrimination, theft, slander, defamation, and criminal negligence — the kind of negligence that’s already caused deaths under their watch. ASK Wellness Society lies to get people in, then changes the rules mid-tenancy to cycle residents out for funding and optics. They are not supportive, they are predatory and dangerous.

This is an up to date apartment building, and can be described as a transition house. The homeless, and people who are struggling with mental health issues reside here for affordable housing funded by the Government of British Columbia.

I love all the crime and community deterioration this facility provides to downtown.
