- 03. Is all food in this facility fit for human consumption and not unwholesome, spoiled, or adulterated?
- A few dented cans were observed on shelves in the retail area, but they were removed during the inspection. Please continue to perform daily walk throughs to identify and remove unwholesome food items.
- 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
- A solution comprised of soap, vinegar, and water was being used as a sanitizer in client restricted areas. Soap and vinegar are not approved as sanitizers since they are not effective against many foodborne pathogens, they may cause chemical contamination, and their concentration cannot be readily verified with test strips. Corrective action: Bleach solutions (which are used in retail areas) or another approved sanitizer must be used throughout the facility, including in client restricted areas.
- 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
- Weatherstripping on the back receiving door was in disrepair such that light was infiltrating. This increases the likelihood of pests entering the facility. Corrective action: Weatherstripping on the back receiving door must be repaired or replaced.
