    • 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Evidence of mice; droppings were noted in the facility under the kitchen sink. Rodents and other pests may cross contaminate foods and surfaces or contaminate human food with feces and urine, carry parasites and other diseases.
      • Corrective Action: Operator cleaned and sanitize area where droppings were located. Continue to monitor the situation.
    • 307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) News paper is being used to line surfaces. Newspaper can be a source of bacteria and cannot be cleaned and sanitized. Proper materials and finishing is required to ensure adequate cleaning and sanitizing.
      • Corrective Action: Operator removed newspaper from the facility

    • 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
      • Observation: Door to storage room outside is not adequately sealed and could allow pests to enter.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to seal or replace door to prevent entry of pests.
    • 307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
      • Observation: Observed multiple shelves that are worn out and/or have build up of food. Materials like raw wood will absorb juices and harbor and allow disease causing bacteria to grow. Proper materials and finishing is required to ensure adequate cleaning and sanitizing.
      • Corrective Action: Clean and refinish surfaces to provide a durable easy to clean surface.

      • Observation: Shelving unit with bare particle board shelves was being used for food storage in the storage room.
      • Corrective Action: Bare particle board shelves must be painted or otherwise finished to provide a surface that's durable, easy to clean and non-toxic; or items in the storage room can be rearranged so that foods are not stored on the bare particle board shelving unit.
