- 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
- Current observations:-Checklist for first aid kit still needed.-First aid kit bag in Infant Room 2 was replaced. Previous observations:-First aid kit bag for outdoor trips in Infant Room 2 (19-24 months) was stained. Have this cleaned or replaced to prevent contamination.-Have a checklist for first aid kit to ensure there is nothing missing.

- Current observations:-It was indicated by the Director that new diaper change pads have been ordered but would not be arriving for at least 2 weeks. -Diaper change procedures were posted. Previous observations:-Several of the diaper change pads were cracked, such as in the infant room, toddler washroomsHave these replaced with diaper change pads in good repair, with smooth, impervious and easily cleanable surfacing.-Diaper change procedures not posted at the change table in the infant room.Procedures should be posted near the change table in the infant room.

- Current observations:-No water temperature logs available. -Water temperatures at fixtures accessible to children were all measured at under 49 degrees C. -Waterproof thermometer available. -Water temperatures at handwash sinks:Toddler Room 2 at 55 degrees C.Infant Room 2 at 52 degrees C.Preschool Room 2 -The sink at the front was at 52 degrees C. The sink at the back used by Preschool Room 3 was at 53 degrees C. Water temperatures must be adjusted. The maximum is 54°C for handwashing sinks, with a recommended temperature of 49°C.-There were no temperature logs available for checking the hot water for sinks accessible to children. Have logs available and ensure staff are checking hot water temperatures regularly to ensure they are below scalding temperatures.It was indicated by the operators that there are no bathing facilities and that no bathing will be provided to infants. If needed, they may be wiped down.

- Corrections made:-Each sleeping mat was placed in its own bag. Previous observations:-Sleeping mats in the infant room were placed in a corner and stored in direct contact with each other. Ensure there is separation between the mats when being stored.

- Current observations:-Back exit door across from Preschool Room 2 still had a gap along the bottom, as light was still visible shining through.-Other doors were satisfactory. Previous observations:-All of the back exit doors (ie - storage/staff room, other 2 back exit doors) were missing weather stripping and had gaps along the bottom.Have weather stripping properly installed to seal off gaps and prevent entry of pests. Double check the work by looking to ensure there is no visible light shining through.

- Infant Room:-There were large plush pillows which did not appear to be clean. -There was a green long fibre plush rug being used. Large plush items are difficult to clean. Discontinue use of these items in the infant room.

- -There are written illness policies in place but information is missing regarding vomiting and the timelines for return require updating. In your written illness policies update them so that it states that if a child or staff has symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea, they are to remain excluded from the daycare until they have been asymptomatic for at least 48 hours. This is to prevent potentially spreading illness unknowingly.-Sanitizer spray bottles were not labelled indicating the contents. Ensure the spray bottles are all properly labelled to ensure there is no potential for misuse (ie - indicate "Bleach").

- -Wine corks and food pouch lids were being used as toys in the Infant Room; both are considered a potential choking hazard. Please remove.

- -The chemical cupboard in the kitchen had been left unlocked. It was secured at the time of inspection.-Bingo dabbers in some of the rooms were labelled “keep out of reach of children.” Please ensure only craft supplies labelled as “non-toxic” are used.
