- Whirlpool was closed for maintenance when PHI arrived for inspection. The operator stated that they were in the process of backwashing. The flow meter was non-functional during this inspection, and the operator changed it out to one that was more functional (can see flow meter reading) but was leaking a lot. It read 60 GPM, and the operator turned up the flow rate, but it caused the leak to increase. Note that the minimum flow rate of 74 gpm is required to reach a 20 minute turnover.Whirlpool is 1507 gallons.Flow rate is 65-70 GPM.Filtration area: 7.06 ft2TO: 21-23 minutes - TO does not meet minimum requirements of 20 minutes.Filtration rate: 9.2 - 9.9 gpm/sq footObtain a flow meter that is in working condition and is maintained at a flow rate (minimum is 74 gpm) to reach the required 20 minute turn over.
