- Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?
- Observation(s): In the infant room the following was found and corrected during the inspection: Storage of scissors and cling wrap must be out of reach of children. The cling wrap was accessible to children in a low cupboard. A rocking chair was found to have fabric that had come loose and could be pulled off in small chunks by infants and/or toddlers and become a choke hazard. In the 3-5 room the following was found and corrected during the inspection: Outlet safety cover was not in place. The door to the large kitchen was propped open making the area easily accessible to children. Bleach and other cleaners/soaps were found stored under the sink in an accessible cupboard. There is a dryer accessible to children with the door open giving children the possibility to climb into it. During the inspection the manager put a safety knob on the door, closed it and posted a sign reminding staff to keep door shut at all times. In the toddler room the following was found and corrected during the inspection: A package of Halls cough drops were in a drawer that is accessible to children. The school age fire exit had nails protruding from the ramp. This was resolved during the inspection. Two play kitchens have hinges that are becoming loose - this was brought to the attention of the manager to keep a close eye on them so they do not become a hazard. There are two child sized chairs that are very soiled. This does not appear to be a health risk to the children at this time but was pointed out to the manager. The manager thought they may be able to launder them.
