    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • The maximum hot water temperature in care room washroom was measured to be 59.3°C at the time of the inspection. The maximum temperature was also confirmed at second handwashing sink in care room.Ensure that the maximum hot water temperature accessible to clients at handwashing sinks is no greater than 54 degrees Celsius. A maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius was recommended.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • At the time of the inspection, the basement area which had been previously flooded was dry, reconstructed, and was being used as a storage area only. No childcare activities were occurring in this space since the flooding incident. No evidence of surface mould or rot was identified at the time of the inspection. One half of the floor area contained the original carpet that had been affected by the prior flood. While the carpet had been cleaned, the inspector was unable to determine how long the carpet had been wet from the flood prior to cleaning, and if the carpet was in a suitable state for use in a childcare facility.The carpet had visible indicators that it had been exposed to construction materials from the renovation/remediation process, and many portions of the carpet were covered in stored facility equipment at the time of the inspection. Ensure that the affected carpet in the basement childcare room is removed and replaced with a suitable flooring type.

      • Informed by staff regarding flooding of basement the other week, and carpet cleaning company was onsite cleaning the carpet. -Informed operator to contact insurance company regarding the basement and discussed if they had determined the source of the water leak. Provided email with resources.
