- 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
- Infant Room: A box of toilet cleaner and an individual bottle of toilet cleaning chemical were observed stored in the sleeping area of the infant room. *Please remove all chemicals from the infant room and store them in a designated, secure location. Cleaning and disinfecting products must be stored safely to prevent accidental exposure and contamination of sleeping, play, and care areas.
- 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
- 1) Toddlers 4: The sparkling bottles were easily opened (use for 3+ as per the manufacturer's instructions). Please ensure the lids are securely glued or stored away from children to prevent access.**The staff removed the sparkles bottles from the children's play area.2) Preschool 1: Staff member's personal item (perfume/deodorant) was observed in an unlocked lower cabinet.**The item was removed during the inspection. Please ensure all staff personal belongings are stored in a designated area inaccessible to children. Cabinets used for staff belongings should remain locked to prevent child access and to reduce the risk of contamination or injury.
- 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
- A staff member was observed using the same gloves to remove the dirty diaper, clean the child and apply the clean diaper and putting the clothes on.*Staff must remove the soiled gloves immediately after handling the dirty diaper and cleaning the child. If they need to apply diaper cream or handle a clean diaper, they must put on a fresh pair or can do with the clean hands.

- First aid kit was missing emergency blanket, and antibiotic ointments (Topical - Single Use only).Please refer to page 41 of https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/wf/eph/wf-eh-health-safety-guidlines-child-care-facilities.pdf for the OHS First Aid Kit checklist.
- 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
- 1) The facility requires a thorough deep cleaning. Hair, dust, and debris were observed in several areas throughout the facility, including but not limited to:Under carpets and rugs, behind furniture, including floor-standing mirrors and bookshelves, clean and dirty toy storage bins, under diaper-changing mats, storage areas and other difficult-to-access locations, and Safety belts and straps on highchairs (Infant Room 1).**Please ensure these areas are cleaned regularly and maintained in a sanitary condition. Additionally, items should be stored at least 15 cm (6 inches) off the floor whenever possible to facilitate effective cleaning and monitoring for signs of pest activity. Proper storage practices will also help reduce the accumulation of dust and debris and improve overall sanitation.2) The broom and dustpan were kept in close contact with the children cots.**Please store the broom and dustpan in a different location, away from children and their belongings. Clean and disinfect the cots.

- - Children personal's beddings were all stored together on the top of sleeping cots.*Please ensure to store al the children's personal items separately and labeled.
- 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
- Toddlers Room 1: Two out of three toilets were missing the toilet paper.*Staff replenish the toilet paper rolls.
- 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
- - A staff member was observed touching a garbage bin and then continuing work without washing their hands. **The staff member washed their hands during the inspection. Proper hand hygiene is essential in preventing the spread of contamination and illness. Please ensure staff wash their hands immediately after handling garbage, waste containers, or any potentially contaminated items, and before handling food, assisting children, or performing other duties where contamination may occur. Regular monitoring and reinforcement of proper handwashing practices are recommended.

- - The concentration of the bleach sanitizer in the classrooms was tested as 50 ppm. Please ensure the concentration of the bleach sanitizer is 100 ppm.

- Preschool 1: Two glasses of milk were observed uncovered on a side table for later use at the lunch time.*Staff covered the glasses of milk during the inspection. Please ensure all food and beverages are adequately covered and protected from potential contamination while in storage or awaiting service.

- 1) - Infant 3 and Toddler 1: The edges of the diapering mats have started to rip. - Leather lego blocks edges were ripped.*Please replace/ repair.2) Clean bibs were observed hanging to dry over the dedicated diapering handwashing sink. *Please discontinue this practice and return the bibs to the kitchen for laundering and drying or identify an alternative drying location away from handwashing and diapering areas. Hanging bibs over the diapering handwashing sink may expose them to contamination from handwashing activities, splashing, and airborne contaminants. Ensure bibs are dried and stored in a clean, sanitary location to prevent contamination prior to use.3) Toys and Equipment: Several wooden toys were observed with worn or depleted surface coatings. *Please ensure these toys are either refinished with a durable, non-toxic finish or discarded if they can no longer be adequately maintained. Toys must be constructed of materials and maintained in a condition that allows for effective cleaning and disinfection. Damaged or deteriorated surfaces can be difficult to properly sanitize and may pose a potential health and safety risk.4) Infant Room 3: The thermometer inside the refrigerator was observed to be broken at the time of inspection. The refrigerator temperature was measured at 7°C. The refrigerator was empty at the time of inspection. *Please replace the broken thermometer to ensure refrigerator temperatures can be accurately monitored and recorded. Regular temperature monitoring is essential to verify that potentially hazardous foods are being stored safely and that the refrigerator is functioning properly.**Please ensure the refrigerator is capable of maintaining an internal temperature of 4°C or below at all times. Do not use the refrigerator to store potentially hazardous foods until it can consistently maintain the required temperature range.

- 1) Diapering Areas: Bins containing sunscreen, hand cream, and miscellaneous items were observed stored on diaper-changing tables. Boxes of gloves were also being stored on the diapering surfaces. *Please ensure diaper changing tables are used only for diapering activities and are not used for storage. All personal care products, supplies, and other miscellaneous items should be stored in designated storage areas away from the diapering surface. Keeping diapering stations clear helps facilitate effective cleaning and disinfection and reduces the risk of contamination.2) Infant Room 4: An electrical outlet was observed to be missing its protective cover. Please ensure all electrical outlets are properly covered and maintained in a safe condition to prevent access by children and reduce the risk of electrical injury.3) A number of garbage bins observed in the classrooms and washrooms either had non-functional foot pedals or were not equipped with hands-free lids. *Please ensure all garbage bins in washrooms and classrooms are equipped with functional hands-free (foot-operated) lids. Repair or replace bins with non-functional foot pedals and replace non-hands-free bins as necessary to promote sanitation, reduce the risk of cross contamination, and support proper hand hygiene practices,
