      • A previous PSN was submitted, but at that time it was indicated that the facility was not in operation. Operator was required to submit a new PSN with updated information on services provided and to indicate they are in operation. A PSN has been received.

A copy of the Personal Service Regulation and Standard was provided following the inspection and details on reprocessing, procedures, etc were reviewed with the operator during the inspection. Please ensure the Personal Service Standards are reviewed in detail.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Several lashes were left on plates after the last clients. Lashes cannot be reused once placed on the plate as they may become contaminated when taking them off with tweezers that have contacted the clients eye area. Ensure all lashes are discarded from the plate after each client and ensure the cards are washed, rinsed, dried, and then disinfected with a low-level disinfectant.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Tweezers were being disinfected in a low-level Barbicide. No testing of the disinfectant was being done and no disinfection records were completed. Improper disinfection can lead to disease transmission/infection of clients. All re-useable tweezers used on lashes are a semi-critical tool and require high-level disinfection between clients. High level disinfectants will be labelled with the words: sporicidal or high level disinfectant and TB, Tuberculocidal or Mycobacterium.Single-use, disposable tweezers can be used and discarded as an alternative to reprocessing.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • There is no reprocessing sink in the facility and reusable semi-critical tools are in use on clients. The only sinks are located in the washroom and kitchen. A reprocessing sink is necessary for the reprocessing of semi-critical tools and a reprocessing sink cannot be in a room with a toilet, and must be separate from sleeping, dining, food preparation and storage of personal belongings. Alternatively, no reprocessing sink is necessary if all tools used are single-use, disposable. Please either install a reprocessing sink for use or obtain single-use tweezers for lash extensions.
