3827 40 Avenue Red Deer AB T4N 2W4 · Personal Services

Inspection summary

Luigi's Barbershop has been inspected 2 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since July 17, 2026. The most recent inspection, on September 25, 2026, found no infractions.

1 of 2 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 3 infractions recorded. All recorded findings relate to upkeep, equipment or paperwork rather than direct infection-control risks to clients.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for clients. In personal service settings like salons, spas and tattoo studios, higher-risk findings are the ones that could spread infection from one client to the next, through broken skin, blood or instruments that were not properly cleaned and sterilized.

  • Equipment and utensilsLower risk

Instruments, chairs, tables and footbaths must be made of materials that can be cleaned, kept in good repair and stored so they stay clean. Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, razors and needles must be thrown away after each client.

Recorded 2 times on July 17, 2026. For example: Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Non-Critical)?

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded once on July 17, 2026. For example: Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?

    • 14. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Non-Critical)?
      • A dirty full of hair porous sponge was observed being used to remove hair from clients between services. The sponge was not smooth, non-porous, or readily cleanable. The operator was advised to discontinue its use and utilize either single-use or adequately cleanable alternatives.Porous materials can trap hair, debris, and microorganisms and cannot be reliably cleaned and disinfected between clients. Continued use may increase the risk of cross-contamination.Ensure any item used on multiple clients is smooth, non-porous, and capable of being effectively cleaned and disinfected between uses. Porous and uncleanable items should be single-use and discarded after use or replaced with an appropriate alternative.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Windex was observed being used to clean and disinfect client chairs and other environmental surfaces.Environmental surfaces that come into frequent contact with clients and workers can become contaminated with microorganisms. Use of a product that is not intended or approved for disinfection may not effectively reduce microbial contamination, increasing the risk of disease transmission between clients and workers.Ensure environmental surfaces are cleaned and, where required, disinfected using a Health Canada approved disinfectant with a valid DIN or MDL and that all manufacturer's instructions for use, including contact time, are followed.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Single-use wax applicator sticks were observed stored in a drawer containing hair and other debris, resulting in contamination of the unused supplies. Single-use items must be protected from contamination during storage. Contaminated applicator sticks may transfer microorganisms to wax products or clients during service, increasing the risk of infection and cross-contamination.Ensure all single-use supplies are stored in a clean manner and protected from contamination during storage and handling. Discard any single-use items that become contaminated prior to use.CDI: Contaminated wax applicator sticks were discarded during the inspection.
