- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1) A spray bottle was labelled 'Flexi Clean' which contained a DIN (0250000) that did not match with the Federal database of disinfectants.REQUIREMENT: A disinfectant with a verifiable DIN must be used.2) A disinfectant (ZEP COMMERCIAL ANTIBACTERIAL DISINFECTANT & CLEANER) was being used on the pedicure basin. Staff stated they would leave the solution wet on the basin for approximately 2 minutes, but the contact time on the instructions is 10 minutes.REQUIREMENT: Switch to a disinfectant with a shorter contact time or follow the manufacturer's instructions.3) The facility does not have a reliable means to confirm that 20 minutes has elapsed for each tool submersed in CS20 disinfectant.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a timer which can allow for staff to track the submersion time, which can also indicate to staff not to add tools until the submersion time for the batch is complete.
