    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Pedicure foot file/exfoliators were not being cleaned prior to being disinfected. A slurry of skin flakes was noted inside a container of high-level disinfectant.REQUIREMENT: Tools must be checked to be fully clean prior to being disinfected. Use scrubbing brushes and tools to aid in the removal of the loose skin.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • A high-level disinfection log was not being maintained to record the pass/fail results of the test strip.REQUIREMENT: A high-level disinfection log must be maintained if high-level disinfectant is to be used over it's reuse period.

    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Pedicure foot file/exfoliators were not being cleaned prior to being disinfected. A slurry of skin flakes was noted inside a container of high-level disinfectant.REQUIREMENT: Tools must be checked to be fully clean prior to being disinfected.     • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The facility is using Pre-Empt CS20 as a high-level disinfectant. Upon testing the disinfectant using a 7% testing strip, the colour change took longer than 35 seconds (~50 seconds), indicating the solution did not have sufficient strength for a 20 minute contact time.Solution was immediately discarded and replenished with new solution.2) The Operator's 7% AHP testing strips, used to verify the satisfactory concentration of poured disinfectant over it's reuse period, were expired (Feb 2024).REQUIREMENT: Obtain non-expired testing strips and routinely verify that the test strips are not expired.3) A high-level disinfection log was not being maintained to record the pass/fail results of the test strip.REQUIREMENT: A high-level disinfection log must be maintained if high-level disinfectant is to be used over it's reuse period.
