    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Incomplete written procedures were observed and missing sink decontamination procedure. Ensure all suitable written procedures are complete, readily available, and comply to the Personal Service Standards.
    • 18. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Non-Critical)?
      • Disinfected clippers were observed to be rusty. Ensure that all reusable equipment are maintained in good condition and free from any signs of ware, such as rust. Refinish or replace the rusted equipment.
    • 24. Are waste sharps disposed of properly?
      • An adequate sharps waste container was not observed for the wooden pushers.Ensure that the facility is equipped with a puncture resistant sharps container for proper disposal of sharp equipment.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Expired eye lash and eyebrow tints were observed in the drawer with the cosmetic products that is intended for client use. Operator removed the expired products from the drawer.Ensure manufacturing instructions such as expiry dates are followed.

      • Hand soap was observed with the reprocessing sink without a written sink decontamination procedure. Operator removed the hand soap from the reprocessing sink. Ensure hand washing occurs in a different sink other than the reprocessing area unless a written sink decontamination step is readily available, observed, and followed, by cleaning and disinfecting the sink between reprocessing and hand hygiene use.

      • The utility cart used for waxing, eyelash lifting/tinting, and eyebrow tinting was observed to be an area too small for service specific preparation of equipment and products. Ensure there is an area large enough for service specific preparation of equipment and products to reduce the risk of contamination of bulk products during a service.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Hand sanitizer bottle was observed to be expired (2022). Operator states the bottle was cleaned and reused with non-expired hand sanitizer. Ensure that all product containers are properly labelled and matches the product inside the container, including expiration dates.
