   • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
     • Single-use applicators used for waxing clients were being stored inside the wax product container. Reusing used applicators during waxing a client can contaminate the wax product with microorganisms and foreign matter from clients, creating a risk of cross-contamination and disease transmission.- Discard the contaminated wax product immediately and clean the wax warmer. - Single-use applicators must be discarded after each use on a client’s skin or hair. Protect wax products from contamination and use only clean, unused applicators when dispensing or applying wax to clients.- Store waxing applicators in a covered container at the waxing station.
   • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
     • 1) Hair clippings were observed throughout the work area, including the barbering workstation surfaces, inside the tool storage drawers, and around the surfaces of the barbering chairs. - Thoroughly clean and sanitize all work surfaces, equipment, and tools. Maintain the facility and surrounding areas in a sanitary condition at all times.2) Edges and interior surfaces of the retail hair product display shelving were visibly soiled with hair clippings and debris.- Thoroughly clean these surfaces and maintain in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.
   • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
     • The spray bottle containing window cleaner was not labeled to indicate its' content. - Properly label all bottles and secondary containers with their content. So that staff can easily identify the product being used. Labels should remain legible and attached to the container at all times.

   • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
     • There was no liquid soap available in the dispenser at the handwashing sink in the washroom. Soap was provided during the inspection.- Ensure the handwashing sink is adequately stocked with liquid soap at all times.
   • 16. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Non-Critical)?
     • Used towels were being stored in cabinet drawers at the barbering workstations, which may result in cross-contamination and contact with clean supplies.Store used towels in a designated, covered container that is separate from clean towels and supplies. Clean and disinfect the cabinet drawers before using them to store clean items.
   • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
     • The disinfectant solution (Barbicide) contained visible hair and debris particles settled at the bottom of the container and appeared dirty, indicating the solution had not been changed at the required frequency and may have been reused beyond its effective service life.- Replace disinfectant solutions daily to ensure its' effectiveness, and ensure all barbering instruments are properly cleaned and disinfected between clients.
   • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
     • Barbering tools and equipment, including combs, brushes, clipper guards/attachments, and other hair-cutting implements, were not being adequately cleaned and disinfected between uses- Thoroughly clean tools prior to disinfection, prepare and maintain disinfectant solutions according to the manufacturer's instructions.
   • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
     • Surfaces of the barbering stations and chairs were not being adequately cleaned and disinfected. No disinfectant solution was available for cleaning these surfaces.- Provide an appropriate disinfectant and ensure barbering stations, chairs, and other frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between clients and as needed.
   • 24. Are waste sharps disposed of properly?
     • Sharps containers at the barbering workstations were overfilled, with sharps protruding from the containers. Overfilled sharps containers increase the risk of accidental needlestick injuries and exposure to bloodborne pathogens.- Immediately stop using the overfilled sharps containers. Return the full sharps containers to a pharmacy or appropriate sharps disposal facility. Replace the sharps containers immediately with new, approved containers.Ensure sharps containers are replaced before they become full or difficult to safely close.

   • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
     • Supplies in the first aid kit were incomplete and required replenishment. There were no band aids, or antiseptic cleaner in the kit.- Ensure the first aid kit is adequately stocked with all required supplies as required by the Occupational health and safety code CSA Standard Z1220-17 at least a Basic Type 2 First Aid kit and routinely check it to replace used or expired items.
   • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
     • Floor surfaces, the table, and the microwave in the staff area were visibly dirty, with an accumulation of food debris and dirt.Clean and sanitize the affected surfaces. Ensure floors, tables, appliances, and other staff area surfaces are routinely cleaned and maintained in a sanitary condition.

     • A reprocessing area had not been constructed for cleaning equipment used on clients. Operators indicated that they plan to install a sink in a corner of the back service room. Ensure sink is adequately plumbed as required by the building code.
