    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • It was noted that the facility was not washing client's hand before and after using sand table. Clients were noted to be moving around the facility and playing with sand table. Importance of handwashing was discussed with the operator during the inspection. Please wash client's hand before and after meals, and sensory tables, after changing diapers, after using washroom, and arts and crafts, after coming from outside. Please wash client's hands.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • 1. One of the paper towel dispensers located in the handwashing area was not in an operational state at the time of inspection. The operator repaired the paper towel dispenser during the inspection. The operator was further advised to ensure that all handwashing supplies are maintained in operational manner at all times. 2. Pieces of paper towel were stored in top of client's personal blanket. These were being used by clients to dry hands. Please note to store all personal items away in clients' cubbies at all times. Please do not store daycare related items with personal items.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Bite marks were noted on one of the foam toys during the inspection. This was discarded during the inspection. The operator was further advised to discards all toys with bite marks.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • 1. Client's personal items were in physical contact with other clients. These were moved during the inspection. The operator was further advised to ensure that client's personal items are not in physical contact with other clients.2. Client's home items such as blankets and stuffed toys and staff personal items such as jackets were noted on the counters and were in contact with daycare items at the time of inspection. Please note that all personal items must be stored away from daycare items. These were moved during the inspection.
    • 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
      • Staff members were not washing hands between tasks. Staff members were noted to be removing bite mark toys, personal items, etc and handling daycare items without washing hands. Staff members also indicated that they sometimes don't get a chance to wash hands prior to changing diapers. Importance of handwashing was discussed with the operator during the inspection. Please wash hands between tasks.

    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The concentration of bleach for diapering was noted to be at 100 ppm. Please note to use bleach solution at 1000 ppm for diapering purposes, 10 teaspoons of bleach per litre of water.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Client's bedding was not stored properly. Bedding was noted on cots and were in physical contact with other clients bedding. Cots were not being cleaned and disinfected. Please be advised to store bedding properly either using individually labeled bags or containers or in their cubbies. All cots must be disinfected after sleeping.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • Clients' personal items (jackets and snow pants) were in physical contact with other clients' personal items. Please be advised that clients personal items must be physically separated from other clients' personal items.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • The facility was performing toy washing in the commercial dishwasher at the same time as of food prep. Soiled dishes were noted throughout the counter in the kitchen and arts and crafts material noted inside the dishwasher.

    • 05. Are communicable diseases at this facility being properly managed?
      • Illness logs were checked during the inspection. Illness logs indicate that the facility had an ILI outbreak in early November and possibly Hand, Foot and Mouth diseases in early December. Three cases of each were noted on the illness log. These were not reported to AHS. When inquired, the operator first indicated they thought it was three or more cases. PHI advised them that two or more cases are considered outbreak, and they had three. The operator indicated that they discussed the ILI cases and decided not to report the outbreak to AHS.     • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The operator indicated that they are unaware of 1000 ppm bleach for diapering measurements. The concentration of bleach for diapering was noted to be at 100 ppm. Please note to use bleach solution at 1000 ppm for diapering purposes, 10 teaspoons of bleach per litre of water.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Ceiling tiles were noted to be porous. Please ensure all ceiling tiles are made of with smooth, easy-to-clean and moisture resistant material.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Client's bedding was not stored properly. Bedding was noted on cots and were in physical contact with other clients bedding. Cots were not being cleaned and disinfected. Please be advised to store bedding properly either using individually labeled bags or containers or in their cubbies. All cots must be disinfected after sleeping.
