- At the time of the inspection, semi-critical items were identified. These items were being cleaned with soap and water then treated with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol and placed into a "SteriDent Dry Heat Sterilizer". There was no testing of the SteriDent device completed. This practice is not acceptable as neither isopropyl alcohol or dry heat are acceptable high-level disinfectants. *** All semi-critical equipment must be disinfected using a high-level disinfectant with a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or Medical Device License (MDL) issued by Health Canada.****** All high-level disinfectants must be tested daily and records of disinfectant testing must be kept. ***

- At the time of the inspection, the owner noted that 70% Isopropyl Alcohol was being used to disinfect chairs, beds and pedicure basins between clients. Isopropyl alcohol is not an approved disinfectant.*** All client surfaces (i.e. beds, chairs, etc.) must be cleaned and then disinfected with a low-level disinfectant between clients. ****** All pedicure basins must be cleaned then disinfected between clients with an intermediate-level disinfectants the has a DIN and a TB, Tuberculocidal or Mycobactericidal claim; or have labeled efficacy against Mycobacterium bovis, Mycobacterium terrae, or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. ***
