      • Bulk container that is used to store rice and flour in the kitchen was not a food-safe container. Please replace the container and ensure that all food storage equipment is approved as a safe food-contact surface.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Small fruit flies were noted on the walls of the dish pit. The manager indicated that their hired pest control services had installed measures for the fruit flies but were found to be ineffective.**Observed again on March 31, 2026. Small fruit flies were observed near the dish pit, wall of the walk-in cooler, and near some of the food equipment, such as bins and containers for food storage. Please ensure that the facility is free of pests and that all conditions are maintained to eliminate opportunities for pest entry and harborage.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • Cooked rice grains and other food debris were observed collecting underneath the prep and dishwashing tables. Please ensure that all the floors beneath food equipment, tables, and corners in hard-to-reach areas are cleaned and maintained free of filth.

      • Small fruit flies were noted on the walls of the dish pit. The manager indicated that their hired pest control services had installed measures for the fruit flies but were found to be ineffective.Pest control management measures were discussed with the manager, including placing upturned cups on top of sink drains to prevent flies from entering from the drain.

      • The measured QUAT concentration for the two food sanitizer pails was 100ppm. Informed operator who refilled pails with fresh sanitizer. Retested and measured concentration was acceptable (200ppm).
    • 07. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • Raw bagged chicken stored in the cooler on the top shelves of the upright food cart was leaking and could potentially contaminate other products stored underneath. Informed operator to ensure raw product is relocated to the bottom portion of the shelf to prevent contamination.
    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • The pot of rice in the warmer was measured to the approximately 35C. Warmer was not turned on. Informed by manager that rice had been cooked and stored for longer than 2 hours. Informed manager who voluntarily discarded the product. Please ensure high risk food products are stored below 4C or hot held above 60C.

      • The measured QUAT sanitizer concentration for the front counter pail was 0 ppm. Informed staff who refilled pail with fresh solution. Retested concentration was acceptable (200ppm). Please ensure sanitizer concentrations are monitored and required concentrations are met.
    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • A large pot of cooked rice was observed sitting at room temperature. Informed that rice had been cooked recently. Measured temperature was approximately 37C. Staff distributed rice into smaller containers and placed them into the cooler. Please ensure no high risk food products are stored at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
