      • Push pins are used in the classrooms. Please remove the push pins as these may fall onto the floor and injure a child. Use tape or sticky tacks instead.

      • Toddler Room: The safety belt on the diapering mat is not present, and the side restraint bar is not high enough to prevent a child from falling. Please install and securely anchor a safety belt to the change table.

      • 1. Classroom 5 bathroom ceiling: The ceiling tiles have been removed. The plumbing and electrical is exposed. - Please replace the ceiling tiles.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • 1. Classroom 5: There was a potty seat for the children stored directly on the floor (beside the toilet). Please do not store potty seats on the floor. - Please either add hooks to hang the potty seat up or have a designated place to store them to protect them from contamination.

      • 1. Bleach bottles in the kitchen and washroom were either unlabeled or did not have enough information on the bottle to identify the contents.- Staff labeled the bleach bottles during inspection. Please ensure chemical bottles have the chemical contents and concentration (ex. Chlorine solution 100 ppm).2. Chemicals stored in the staff kitchen area did not have a lock. Since there is no wall or barrier to separate the kitchen, cabinets with hazardous chemicals should have locks as a precaution.- Staff placed a lock onto the cabinet during inspection.

      • 1. Classroom 5 bathroom ceiling: The ceiling tiles have been removed. The plumbing and electrical is exposed. - Please replace the ceiling tiles.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • 1. The first aid kit is missing items like an emergency blanket.- Please review the first aid kit guidelines and ensure it is stocked.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • 1. Baby room: The sink designated for handwashing after diaper changes is also being used as a toy washing sink. This room has mouthing toys that need to be cleaned and sanitized. Please avoid using the handwashing sink to wash toys to avoid any risk of cross contamination.- Staff will be cleaning and sanitizing the toys in another sink.

      • 1. Classroom 5: There was a potty seat for the children stored directly on the floor (beside the toilet). Please do not store potty seats on the floor. - Please either add hooks to hang the potty seat up or have a designated place to store them to protect them from contamination.

      • Classroom 3-Travel kit for outdoor use was missing cpr barrier device. Please ensure all kits are equipped as per CSA standard Alberta type 2 basic kit
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • A piece of vinyl tile flooring was loose in the children's washroom (middle toilet stall). Please ensure floor tile is adhered properly to floor surface.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • Classroom 3 (3.5-4.5 yr old) - hot water tap was measured to be @54.1 deg C. Note: Classroom 4 (4-6 yr old) - hot water tap measured to be @49.6 deg C.Please lower to 49 deg C.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Bingo dabbers (Primo) had warning on label warning 'keep out of reach of children'. Staff discarded at time of inspection. Ensure craft supplies are non-toxic arts and crafts materials. Look for the Approved Product Seal by the Art and Creative Materials Institute. Products with the Cautionary Label Seal should not be used with young children.

      • The faucet at the hand wash sink in the infant room is loose and not properly secured.Please ensure the faucet is fixed and properly secured to the counter.
