- R7.1 - Are the physical facility, equipment and furnishings maintained, sanitary, accessible and appropriate for persons in care?
- Observation(s): The system for ensuring compliance with securing medications is ineffective. It was noted during the inspection that the laundry room door was unlocked. The laundry room also has a storage container on the counter for medications. Persons in care assist with some of the laundry duties and have access to the laundry room. The laundry room access was discussed at the previous inspection conducted on June 10, 2016. There was a misunderstanding in either the Licensing Officer's explanation or the licensee's understanding of what was discussed during the previous inspection in regards to access to the laundry room. Sections 69 (3) and 35 (2) of the Residential Care Regulation were read and discussed during the inspection. There are lockable cupboards in the laundry room and the Licensee will explore further options of storing and securing the medication in the lockable laundry room cupboards. The laundry room door was locked and this item was corrected during the inspection.
