      • Toddler washroom: Cleaning chemicals were observed stored in the cabinet under the sink, and the lock was easily opened, creating a risk of access by children. Staff were advised to ensure the cabinet is properly secured and locked at all times to prevent access and reduce the risk of potential chemical hazards.

      • 1. Baby Room: The bleach sanitizer concentration observed 0 ppm. 2. Toddler room: The bleach concentration was measured at >>200 ppm. 3. Pres-school room: Bleach concentration was measured at 0 ppm in open container whereas in bottle was measured at >>200 ppm. The operator was advised to ensure that an adequate concentration of disinfectant is maintained at the facility. The operator then prepared a fresh sanitizer solution, which was subsequently measured at 100 ppm.

      • Toddler washroom: A large plastic container was observed placed in the handwashing basin at the time of inspection. The operator was advised that handwashing sinks must be used solely for handwashing and not for storage purposes. The container was removed immediately upon request.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Facility: The facility was observed using reusable cloths as a hand drying option, with cloths stored in individual cubbies for each child; however, the handwashing stations were located at a significant distance from the cubbies, which may discourage children from properly drying their hands after washing and compromise effective hand hygiene. The operator was advised to provide a basket of clean cloths and a separate basket for soiled cloths in close proximity to the handwashing stations to support proper hand drying practices.

      • Toddler room: No hand drying option was available for the staff at handwashing station at the time of inspection. The operator was advised to ensure that a sanitary hand drying option is provided. The operator subsequently provided a basket of clean towels during the inspection.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • Facility: The facility was found to have no hot water available, except in the Kinder/OSC room and the Pre-school program room, with temperatures recorded at a maximum of 18.6°C and a minimum of 12.5°C. Operator was advised to contact maintenance immediately to address the issue. During the inspection, maintenance personnel arrived and indicated that the hot water tank requires replacement as a corrective action. In the meantime, the operator was instructed to relocate children from three rooms to the Pre-school program room, which has sufficient capacity and access to hot water, and for the baby room, the operator was advised to boil water and provide warm water for effective handwashing until the issue is resolved.

      • Toddler washroom: A rocker bouncy seat, diaper changing pad, and a sleeping bed were observed stored directly adjacent to toilet fixtures, creating a risk of contamination from splashes and improper sanitation. The operator was advised to relocate all toys and diapering equipment to a designated clean area away from toileting fixtures and to ensure proper storage to prevent contamination.Pre-school washroom: A diaper changing pad was observed stored on top of a toilet tank, creating a risk of contamination from splashes and improper sanitation. The operator was advised to store diapering equipment in a designated clean area away from toilet fixtures to prevent contamination and maintain hygienic conditions. The operator removed all items immediately upon request.

      • Facility is choosing to use Re-usable hand towels for client handwashing. A bin to store soiled towels was not observed in each washroom. Ensure that new towels are provided adjacent to handwashing basins, and that they are immediately stored separately with other soiled and laundered between each use.Hand towels are only to be used once and then laundered.

      • Antiseptic alcohol wipes in the first aid kit had expired. Ensure that first aid kits contents are inventoried monthly and updated as needed.

      • The gap between the crib frame and the mattress is between 3-5cm. Ensure that the gap is less than 3cm.

      • * Ensure sensory bottles are secured. Bottles observed to not have caps secured and were easily openable. Ensure toys are appropriate to age and children are protected from hazards.

      • * Staff washroom was observed to not have paper towel present. One cloth towel was observed. Ensure adequate way to dry hands is present at all times.

      • * OSC/ kinder room was observed to be needing soap for hand washing station. This was corrected onsite.* Face cloths observed to be stored in the shared bathroom. Please ensure individual face cloths are protected from contamination. This was corrected during inspection.* Utensils (spoons and forks) were observed to be stored in the storage unit located in the washroom. Please ensure all utensils are kept in the kitchen area and are protected from contamination.

      • *Diapering mattress observed to be in disrepair. The easily cleanable material appeared to have signs of wear and foam like material was exposed. Ensure diapering mattress is easily cleanable and impervious to moisture.*Baby room had missing doorknobs and holes were observed in the cupboard door. Ensure all equipment is in good repair and safe for children.
