    • 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
      • Observation: The concrete floor below the backdoor where store supplies are received is in a state of disrepair. There were extensive cracks, chips observed, and the door was not weather-stripping. (Public Health Significance) It is expected that the backdoor be weather-stripping to prevent entrance of pests, rodents into the facility. This will prevent cross contamination of food and discourage harbourage of pests.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that the inner door that leads directly to the kitchen area is always closed to prevent entrance of pest. The backdoor should be fixed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirement.
    • 502 - Repeat In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
      • Observation: There was no FOODSAFE certified employee on shift (Public Health Significance). A FOODSAFE or its equivalence certified employee is expected to be available every shift, to help identify, monitor and verify steps in food handling, preparation etc., that can lead to food safety non-compliance in the facility and promptly correct it, thereby preventing outbreak of potential foodborne illnesses and protecting the public.
      • Corrective Action: Operator should ensure a FOODSAFE certified employee is on duty for every shift.

    • 205 - Critical Repeat Cold potentially hazardous food stored/displayed above 4 °C. [s. 14(2)]
      • Observation: Observed by the sandwich preparation area ( front cooler) temperature of the chicken and beef were 8-11 degree celsius.
      • Corrective Action: Monitor and adjust the temperature of the sandwich preparation or keep the sandwich preparation area closed when not in use.
    • 502 - Repeat In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
      • Observation: Employees that worked at Subway were not certified in FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent. The owner was certified in FOODSAFE Level 2 and was present during the inspection.
      • Corrective Action: Operator needs to have more trained staff that have FOODSAFE Level1 or equivalent.
