    • 212 - Operator has not provided acceptable written food handling procedures [s. 23]
      • Observation: In the absence of the operator, food handler could not provide written food handling procedures. (Public health significance): Food handling procedures help identify and mange hazards which are essential to minimize foodborne illnesses.
      • Corrective Action: Operator should have a written food handling procedures on site and made accessible.
    • 314 - Operator has not provided acceptable written sanitation procedures [s. 24]
      • Observation: In the absence of operator, the food handler could not provide the sanitation plan. (Public health significance): Food service establishments must have written sanitation procedures to ensure safe and sanitary operations.
      • Corrective Action: Operator should have a written sanitation procedure on site and made accessible.
    • 502 - In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
      • Observation: The only food handler present at time of inspection does not have FOODSAFE training. (Public health significance): FOODSAFE training equip food handlers with the knowledge and skills to handle food safely further reducing food contamination within the facility.
      • Corrective Action: At least one staff with FOODSAFE training should be present during operations of the facility. Food handler present was made aware of this.
  2. Routine Inspection

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: In the back preparation area, personal items such as a mobile phone charger were observed placed on a food contact surface near the chopped vegetables. These items pose a risk of contaminating the food prepared in this area.
      • Corrective Action: Operator is to educate employees to store all personal items in designated areas separate from the kitchen.
    • 309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
      • Observation: There was an unlabelled spray bottle in the back preperation area. Unlabelled spray bottles may lead to misuse of the chemical, cross contaminate and may lead to ineffective cleaning and sanitation of the food contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: The operator to label spray bottle appropriately to identify the contents inside.
  3. Routine Inspection

    1 infraction

    • 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Surface sanitizer used (Peroxide multisurface disinfectant and cleaner RTU) is not approved for food establishments as per the label.
      • Corrective Action: This was discarded and spray bottle filled with quat (from dishwashing quat). Operator is aware to use only approved sanitizers in the premise. Also, she is aware to maintain quat concentration at 200 ppm. The owners do not want them using bleach.
