      • **Outstanding Violation: The following written procedures was not available in the facility: -skin cleansing procedure-accidental skin cuts procedure -dual purpose sink procedure-Ensure there is written procedures for preparation of the skin before waxing and client care for accidental cuts and the dual-purpose sink used for handwashing and reprocessing of instrument.
    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • Towels were used to wipe down surfaces immediately after disinfecting with Lysol wipes.-Follow the 4 minutes contact time for lysol wipes disinfection.-Ensure disinfectant contact time is followed according to manufacturer's instructions at all times.

      • 1. Reusable nail tools were not being air dried before disinfecting in PREempt CS20. -Operator was educated to air dry that wet tools could reduce the concentration of the disinfectant.-Ensure reuseable tools are washed, rinsed, air dried, disinfected in CS20, rinsed and air dried again.2. Alcohol was used to spray and disinfect drill bits.-Alcohol without a Drug Identification Number is not classified as a disinfectant.-Ensure drill bits are disinfected with a high-level disinfectant such as PREempt CS20.

      • 1. The white wall board behind the faucet at the handwash/reprocessing station beside the washroom had damage from water and paint was chipping off.-Repair wall board2. The wall beside the client bed is damaged, exposing the dry wall. -Repair wall and prevent reoccurrence by protecting the surface from damage.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • 1. Clients were observed using the reprocessing sink beside the washroom for handwashing. 2. Operator stated that the washroom sink was sometimes used for reprocessing equipment.-Reprocessing cannot be done in the washroom.-Ensure reprocessing area is restricted from client access. signage is recommended.

      • Dirty drill bits were stored with clean ones in the manicure section. Operator removed dirty drill bits.-Separate dirty equipment from clean ones always.-Use separate containers for dirty and clean equipment.

      • -1. Used nail files and toe separators were found in a storage drawer next to new supplies. The used items were discarded during the inspection2. A used eyebrow spoolie was found with the waxing tools. These items are single use and must be discarded after each client. The spoolie was discarded during the inspection.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • -1. There was no high-level disinfectant available at the salon. The operator indicated that they had purchased some from the supplier and will be picking up the product.2. Test strips for high-level disinfectant were expired. Please obtain new test strips. 3. No recent records of high-level disinfectant testing were available upon request. The last record the operator had was from early 2023, indicating that the high-level disinfectant is not being tested on a daily basis (bottle of expired test strips was full), and results are not being recorded.Please ensure the solution is being tested on a daily basis, and results are recorded if the solution is being reused for the 14-day reuse period. Alternatively, you may simply discard the solution after each use.

      • -1. Small scissors used for waxing services appeared to have an accumulation of debris. Please clean and disinfect or discard. 2. Some nail clippers/cuticle nippers were rusty. Please clean and disinfect to remove rust or discard rusted tools.
