      • -There was no Type 2 first aid kit readily available. - There are new requirements for first aid supplies. Please refer to Appendix H of the “Alberta Health Services Childcare Guidelines.” The list of supplies should be printed out so that regular audits can be completed.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • -Push pins were being used in the Toddler and Baby Rooms. They were removed at the time of inspection. Push pins and staples should not be used in child care facilities. Please remove all push pins and staples and switching to alternatives such as: tape, sticky tac, Velcro etc. If staples are to be used they should be covered with tape.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • -There was an area rug in the Pre-school Room curling up at the edges; which creates a potential tripping hazard. Please address.-Storage shelves in the Toddler Room and Baby Room had sharp edges. Please install corner protectors.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • -There was an exposed screw in the kitchen play set in the Pre-school Room. Please address.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • -Please ensure that handwashing sinks in the OSC Room and in the kitchen are equipped with paper towel in a suitable holder.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • -There was no Type 2 first aid kit readily available. - There are new requirements for first aid supplies. Please refer to Appendix H of the “Alberta Health Services Childcare Guidelines.” The list of supplies should be printed out so that regular audits can be completed.

      • -There was a toy in the Toddler Room that required additional cleaning. It was removed at the time of inspection.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • -The carpet under the play house in the Pre-school Room was rolling up at the corners; this is a tripping hazard. Please address.-Chemicals were being stored in the kitchen cupboards under the sink. Please ensure the cupboards are locked.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • -There were two purses with long straps in the Pre-school Room. This is a potential strangulation hazard. They were removed at the time of inspection.-Bingo dabbers were not labelled as non-toxic. These were removed at the time of inspection.
    • 11. Are parent provided foods being properly handled and stored to ensure the safety of clients in this social care facility?
      • -Ensure children’s water bottles are labelled with their names.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • The following cleaning concerns were noted:*Container used to store lego was unclean and full of debris*The lego table was unclean*The blue table in the OSC had not been wiped and had stains
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • -Test strips expired in September 2024. Please replace
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • -There were multiple broken lego pieces in the OSC. Please remove broken pieces.
    • 23. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Critical)?
      • -Sleeping mats had been repaired with tape and the tape was badly peeling on several mats. Tape is not considered a permanent solution. Ensure mats are re-covered or replaced.Update: Aug 18, 2023 Tape was used to repair several mats. Ensure to repair or replace the mats.

      • -Sleeping mats had been repaired with tape and the tape was wearing away; surface no longer easy to clean. Please repair/replace.

      • - The last pest checklist was filled out in February 2024. Ensure these checklists are filled out monthly.
