    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • -Written procedures for (1) hair washing and equipment reprocessing sink decontamination and (2) client care were reviewed with the operator.
    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • The operator was not able to demonstrate the knowledge of using disinfectants in the facility.The operator was instructed to use a low-level disinfectant for her facility. Non-critical items could be disinfected using a low-level disinfectant that has a DIN number and has a claim "Disinfectant" on the packaging. The operator was also instructed to allow proper contact time following manufacturer's instructions for the disinfectant.

      • No disinfectant was available in the facility to disinfect non-critical equipment.The operator was asked to acquire a low-level disinfectant to clean non-critical equipment used in the facility.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • The towel on the movable table used for keeping haircut equipment had accumulation of hair and dirt on it.The operator was asked to remove the towel and clean the table.
    • 31. Are sinks accessible and used appropriately for the personal services provided?
      • Hair washing and non-critical equipment reprocessing were carried out in the same sink.The proper method of cleaning and disinfecting the sink before reprocessing non-critical equipment in the sink was discussed with the operator.
