    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Preempt RTU, Preempt Concentrate, and Cavicide disinfectants were observed to be expired. 2. No test strips were available to test the diluted Preempt Concentrate disinfectant solutions being used.**Operator threw away expired disinfectants and replaced with an unexpired bottle of Preempt Concentrate. ** Disinfectants must not be expired to ensure efficiency. If using Preempt concentrate, operator must obtain test strips. Operator may also switch to ready-to-use disinfectants that do not require dilution.
    • 21. Is equipment that is intended to be sterile maintained sterile at the point of use?
      • Opened ink cartridge packages were observed in a tattoo station drawer. When asked, operator advised that these are used for training purposes on fake skin.**Opened packages were removed from the station drawer and segregated for training use only. **Non-sterile training equipment must remain separated and identifiable from clean equipment.
