    • 07. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • A bin that was used to store raw chicken that still contained raw chicken liquid was observed to be stored on the rack holding the fountain pop and slurpee concentrates that were in use. The presents a potential for contamination of the hoses and connection serving these machines. Staff immediately corrected the concern.
    • 08. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • Scoops were observed to be stored within the dry chicken coating. Scoop was removed and sent to dishwashing when discussed with staff.The practice and concerns associated with storing scoops in containers were discussed.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • The floor in many areas of the store was showing signs of excessive wear or disrepair and there were areas where tiles missing pieces. Gaps and grout (porous material) are stained and caked with dirt in places.*** Please develop a plan and budget for replacing the floor with a continuous material that is non-porous and easy to clean. Ideally the floor is replaced by July 2026. This date is negotiable based on budget/case presented. ***

      • The safety belt on the diaper change table in the washroom was in disrepair. Please ensure the belt is repaired.

      • Please ensure a deep-clean of harder-to-reach areas in the kitchen is conducted (eg. outsides of refrigeration units, in back corners and underneath equipment).

The certificate did not state that the training provided was "approved in Alberta by the Minister of Health to meet Section 31 of the Food Regulation (AR 31/2006)".*** Please ensure that one staff for every 6 members on shift has a valid and approved food safety training certificate. ***

      • Overall, the facility is maintained in a clean and organized fashion; however, food and waste debris build-up were observed in hard-to-reach areas under and behind equipment in the kitchen and beverage syrup areas.*** Please ensure more diligent attention and cleaning of hard-to-reach areas under and behind equipment in the kitchen and beverage syrup areas. ***
