- 06. Are appropriate food handling practices and plans in place to ensure that food is handled in a manner that makes it safe to eat?
- -Foods such as candy were being repackaged into smaller containers.This facility does not have a dedicated sink to wash hands (sinks in washrooms are not considered), which is a requirement for handling, portioning and repackaging foods. You are not permitted to handle, portion or repackage foods in any way due to this and are to stop immediately. The candy was removed from the shelves. You must submit a drawing, provide specifications for a sink and obtain our approval if you wish to handle, portion and repackage foods.
- 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
- -The left side glass door cooler at the back of the store, which contained high risk foods, such as milk, eggs, butter and yogurt was measured at 5 degrees C.High risk foods must be maintained at 4 degrees C or less to prevent rapid germ growth. These foods were moved to the right side cooler, which was maintaining adequate temperatures. Routinely check temperatures (daily) to ensure temperatures do not exceed 4 degrees C.

- -An invoice will be e-mailed to you. Follow the instructions on the invoice on how to pay. Once payment has been received, you will be e-mailed the Food Handling Permit. Print this off and post it in an area that is visible to customers.
