I've been to this restaurant many times and will definitely keep coming back. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and the service is always professional. Most of the time the food is very good, and the servers do a great job. One thing I've noticed is that the serving sizes can vary quite a bit. Some dishes are very generous, while others seem a little small. There also appears to be a difference in portion sizes between the Cranbrook and Fernie locations. I've visited Bay Leaf Fernie multiple times as well, and they're awesome. Their server, Sam, is a great guy—very friendly, professional, and always provides excellent service. Overall, the Cranbrook location is good, but personally I find the Fernie location a bit better because I prefer the taste and consistency of the food there.

I guess some people's taste buds are dead. Nothing else would explain how this place got an average rating anywhere about a 2.5 - 3. The rice was decent, nice and tasteless. The aloo cauli was ok'ish if you didnt care about the lack of seasoning. The Rogan Josh had sone taste to it although the lamb must've already been chewed by someone else before bringing it to the table. The garlic naan... oh the garlic naan, if you like chewing on a wet dish rag, this would really hit the spot. But the true star of the meal was the dish that most white people think of when thinking indian food, delicious butter chicken. Well... that chicken had seen better days. It must've been cooked for the first time about 3 months ago, then cooked again and again every day since, until every atom of moisture was gone from it. By the tine it got to my table the rubber sole of my running shoes would have been juicier. The "chef" sent back a half harted appology with the waitress - which shoukd really have a shower this century and maybe some clothes without stains the identifies every meal on the menu that you should avoid ordering - offering us half price on the butter chicken, because after all we did try to chew through some of the chicken pieces, since I guess, he could no longer sell it to the next sucker that things this food deserves a 4.8 rating. Do yourself a favor, eat somewhere else!

An absolute delight as soon as we walked in, great welcome. The meal was excellent. Our waitress Jasmine was very pleasant and quick. Would definitely come here again, I highly recommend it. In fact the best Indian restaurant I have been to.

The food is wonderful and the crew incredibly friendly. We had the Nepali thali with a little bit of everything. A happy place!

Incredible restaurant with outstanding service. Chef Dinesh personally served our food and provided a few tasty bonus treats that we will definitely order next time we come. Our server Garima was friendly, efficient, and patient explaining the menu. She was exceptionally kind to my son and helpful when asking for suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were large, and the prices were reasonable. The Hakke noodles were very spicy (ordered medium) and soooo flavourful. My brother loved the butter chicken and fried rice, and the homemde hot sauce is divine. We were driving through and this place was definitely a hidden gem. I would highly recommend eating here. The staff knows customer service and the chef knows food!!!!

Don’t judge a book by its cover—the modest décor doesn’t reflect the quality of the food or service. The complimentary crisps (papadums?) were a lovely touch to start the meal. We ordered the Fish Pakora, naan, and two mains—Chicken Navaratna Korma and Beef Lababdar (medium heat)—with basmati rice. Every dish was excellent. The fish was perfectly spiced, crisp on the outside and moist inside, with no fishy aftertaste. The korma featured a silky-smooth cashew sauce, gently sweet with subtle notes of cardamom. The Navaratna delivered an intense garam masala profile in a rich, creamy sauce with a slight sweetness that balanced the spices beautifully. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return again should I find myself looking for an eatery while in Cranbrook.

I do not understand the high ratings - relatively pricy and just ok food. We got the recommended tandoori chicken, which was good but small portion for the price. The cheese and garlic naan was like a cheesy pizza, if that’s what you like. The hot and sour soup was super garlicky, would not order again

One of the best Indian foods we’ve ever had! We ordered the classic butter chicken, mango coconut chicken and Nepalese momo dumplings. Everything was absolutely delicious and our waiter was attentive. Highly recommend coming here and trying this place!
