What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 4 times on June 3, 2026. For example: Food Not Protected - General

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on June 3, 2026. For example: Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on June 3, 2026. For example: Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control

  1. Routine

    6 infractions

    • Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils
      • Staff explained that the stationed all-purpose cleaner is used on the food contact surface (prep table). The cleaned labelled Mr. SIGA TRI BASE ALL-PURPOSE has a user statement of: [d]o not load with any food or beverages.
      • Staff relocated the all-purpose cleaner and rinsed and re-sanitized the food prep counter. * Do not use cleaners that can leave a chemical residue on food contact surfaces.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • 2 salad bowls were double stacked on top of the lettuce. There was no food-grade covering/barrier on top of the salad - posing cross contamination risks.
      • Staff relocated the two bowls as to not have double stacking.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • 3 kitchen knives were stored in between counter spaces. The hard to reach areas are not cleaned regularly - and can pose cross contamination risks when in use. This is a repeat infraction.
      • Staff located a communal bucket to store kitchen knives. * Always store food equipment in a sanitary manner.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • 5 tongs were stored on the oven handles. This is not a sanitary place of storage as food handlers can brush up against the tongs.
      • Staff relocated the tongs to a higher level railing.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • Bar ice machine had accumulation/mildew along its dispensing line. The last recorded cleaning was from February 2026 (4 months ago).
      • Remove ice and clean/sanitize the interior. Update the sanitation plan to reflect the cleaning frequency. Send a copy to area EHO.
    • Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control
      • Rodent droppings were observed in the corridor outside of the walk-in coolers. Multiple cardboard boxes were congregated - which poses as an ideal harbourage site for pests to inhabit.
      • Take the following actions: 1. Remove the pest droppings and clean the floors in the corridor. 2. Remove the cardboard boxes as well. * Cardboard boxes must be removed on a regular basis - to prevent pest harbourage. 3. Seal all gaps and potential entry points for pests. Comments Routine inspection conducted.
