Inspection summary

Creekers Pub 2023 has been inspected once by Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), on June 3, 2026. The most recent inspection, on June 3, 2026, recorded 5 infractions.

In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 5 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Cleaning and sanitizing and Pests.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times on June 3, 2026. For example: Food Not Protected - General

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on June 3, 2026. For example: Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on June 3, 2026. For example: Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control

  • Food safety training and certificationLower risk

Most jurisdictions require a certified food handler or manager on site, and some require allergen or food-worker training. These findings mean the paperwork or the trained person was missing at the time. They do not by themselves mean food was handled unsafely.

Recorded once on June 3, 2026. For example: Poor Hygiene and Activities of Food Handlers

About this data

These results come from Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), which inspects food premises and other public facilities in this area. We republish the authority's public disclosure data and refresh it regularly; the official record is the final word.

  1. Routine

    5 infractions

    • Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils
      • Bleach spray sanitizer had no detectable chlorine - registering 0ppm. This is below the required concentration of 100-200ppm chlorine residuals, and lead to the survival of pathogens on food contact surfaces.
      • Staff refreshed the surface sanitizer to register at 200ppm chlorine residuals. * Ensure to regular refresh and test the chlorine sanitizer prior to use.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • Ice scoop was stored directly on a cloth on top of the ice machine. This is an unsanitary means of storage and can present cross contamination risks.
      • Staff placed the scoop in the dishwasher and located a container for its further storage.
    • Food Not Protected - General
      • Ice machine had a green slime/biofilm along its dispensing line - posing cross contamination risks for ready to eat ice. Staff did not know when the ice machine was last cleaned.
      • Empty the machine and clean/sanitize the ice machine's interior prior to reuse.
    • Poor Hygiene and Activities of Food Handlers
      • Staff used a hand rag instead of a single-use form of hand drying. A wet rag can create optimal growth conditions for bacteria - and can pose cross contamination risks.
      • Staff discarded the rag and used the paper towel.
    • Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control
      • 3+ rodent droppings were observed along the wall baseboard. None were seen on the food contact surfaces. This is a repeat infraction.
      • Remove the rodent droppings and clean/disinfect affected areas. * Ensure that all potential gaps are sealed to prevent further pest entry Comments Routine inspection conducted. Comments: - Overall sanitation of the facility is satisfactory. * Organization could be improved in the closet area. - Handwashing station is equipped with hot/cold running water and paper towels. - Low temperature dishwasher registered 100ppm chlorine residuals after the final rinse. - Chlorine test strips are available onsite. - Slide door cooler registered 3.8C. - Permit to operate posted in a visible location.
