    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • There were mouse droppings in the storage room under the shelves. The droppings appeared to be old. Please safely clean the droppings (DO NOT SWEEP OR VACUUM) and sanitize the area. Monitor for evidence of mouse activity, and continue to work with pest control. There was an open bag of oats in the storage room, which can act as an attractant for mice. Please ensure any open food containers are sealed. I would highly recommend transferring any bagged food into solid containers to deter mouse activity.
    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • There was a black mold-like substance in the ice machine. Please clean and sanitize the ice machine.

    • 06. Are appropriate food handling practices and plans in place to ensure that food is handled in a manner that makes it safe to eat?
      • No - food safety temperature logs have not been consistently recorded (with daily records, either paper copy or digital, to be completed and kept for a period of 90 days).Note: a copy of the AHS 'daily food safety checklist' has been provided for staff review and use, as necessary (as staff can create their own version with all cold-holding, hot-holding, and dishwasher temperature logs recorded at least once per day, during the work day).
    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • No - the condiments in seven squeeze bottles at the front staff service area must be stored 'on/in ice' at all times (with ice to be added as necessary throughout the day, if condiments are kept out at room temperature in this manner). At time of inspection, the condiments were being stored in a rectangular stainless steel insert with water only remaining from the ice melt. Staff are to be aware of the set-up and ensure ice is constant and added when necessary (or to store all such condiments in a refrigeration unit instead, at all times).
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • No - the Food Handling Permit was not properly displayed, and must be posted in its full size in a conspicuous location at the front sales counter area, visible to the public.

    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • Yes (corrected during inspection) - at time of inspection, the Food Handling Permit (FHP) was not posted. The operator is to ensure the FHP is posted in a conspicuous location, visible to the public at all times. The staff were advised to post the current FHP (expiry date of September 30, 2025) alongside the business license and liquor license on the side wall (to be visible to the public).
