      • August 8, 2025: Partially corrected: A roll of paper towel was sitting on the bathroom counter. Please install a dispenser.

      • There was no paper towel at the hand sink in the washroom

      • Skin cleansing was not being done prior to wax services. A skin cleanser must be used to clean the area to be waxed prior to waxing.

      • -Allegedly "clean" tools were sitting on a dirty towel covered in hair at one of the hair stations-Allegedly "clean" combs were sitting in a dirty container covered in hair

      • Staff onsite were unaware of where the high-level disinfectant and test strips were for disinfecting semi-critical esthetic tools. Staff were instructed to not provide pedicure services until approval is obtained from Alberta Health Services

      • Used wooden wax applicators were observed sitting on the wax pots. It appears staff are double dipping. Discarded during the inspection.

      • Augenblick hair dye was being used for brow tinting. The label says not for use on lashes or eyebrows. Discontinue brow tint services until an alternative brow dye is obtained and approval has been granted by Alberta Health Services

      • General sanitation of the facility was poor. The following areas require cleaning:-Surfaces throughout the salon were covered in hair including the floors and countertops-The hair station drawers and cabinets were covered in hair-The wax bed was covered with a used single use cover. The towels underneath the paper cover also appeared dirty

      • Written procedures for cleansing the skin and client care in case of accidental cut and puncture were not available.Written procedures were reviewed with the operator.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • -A high-level disinfectant was not available to disinfect semi-critical equipment at the time of inspection.-The operator indicated that they use Pre-empt RTU for disinfecting semi-critical tools. Pre-empt RTU was expired.The operator was asked to stop pedicure/manicure services until they acquire a high-level disinfectant and the relevant test strips.

      • The sink used for reprocessing non-critical and semi-critical tools was also being used for handwashing.A reprocessing sink cannot be used for handwashing or any other purposes.
